2.5miles from the town centre of Aberfoyle nestled in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Forest this 500 year old tower house with connections to Rob Roy has been fully renovated, offering 3 unique luxury self-catering properties on the estate; Duchray Castle, Duchray Lodge and The West Wing.
The oldest part of Duchray Castle dates from the 16th century, when it is believed to have been built as a hunting lodge for the Kings of Scotland. Set in 80 acres of parkland the location is secluded, rural and scenic but is within 30 miles of Stirling and Glasgow making it highly accessible.
The historic property has been renovated to a high standard and is stylishly decorated, elegantly highlighting and complimenting the charming period features of the building, and offering stunning views across the estate. Accommodation within the castle is spacious and luxurious comprising of 4 large bedrooms that sleep up to 8 people, all with deluxe ensuite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and huge dining and living areas with a feature fireplace.
Duchray Lodge, the former gatehouse to the castle, is a charming luxury 2 bedroom free standing cottage set within the secluded grounds of the castle estate. The flexible sleeping layout offers the option of 2 doubles and one single or 1 double and 3 singles, making it suitable for families or groups of friends. There is a newly fitted kitchen and central bathroom, and a cosy living and dining space with log burner.
The West Wing at Duchray castle is a Victorian annex located to the West side of the main castle building. The beautifully decorated annex has been transformed into a luxury bright and airy two bedroom space with a central bathroom and a large open plan cook’s kitchen and living room with log burner; the perfect space to gather and enjoy time together. The West Wing sleeps 4 in a double and a twin bedroom, both rooms with uninterrupted views over the estate.
The immaculately kept grounds of the estate are for guests to wander and explore the hidden paths, streams and fields to discover the woodlands and wonderful wildlife. Beyond the estate you will find access to running, cycling and walking routes through the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, and a short walk or drive takes you into the village of Aberfoyle for dining, shopping, family activities, bike hire and information centre.
