The Lake of Menteith Hotel is a hidden gem, located within The Trossachs National Park yet easily accessible, being an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and twen from both Loch Lomond and the ancient city of Stirling. The location of Scotland’s only natural lake is steeped in history. It contains Inchmahome Priory, a now abandoned Augustinian priory formed in 1238, where for centuries boats have made their way between the nearby pier at Port of Menteith and the Priory on the Isle of Inchmahome, some of which carried Mary Queen of Scots and many other notable guests to an fro. The heart of the hotel was the former manse, possibly very late 18th century, with the hotel itself dating from 1854.

Now with guests from all over the world, the hotel has since undergone a transformation in sympathy with its surroundings into what is now an award winning romantic and inviting country hotel, where a warm Scottish welcome awaits. On offer are en-suite rooms on the ground and first floor to suit different budgets, some boasting beautiful lake views. Guests can take lunch or dinner in the glass fronted lakeside formal dining room where fresh food is cooked to order by a passionate and dedicated team of chefs. The menu delivers honest, tasty and plentiful dishes, sourced as locally as possible, served without fuss and pretension. The Port Bar, a cosy inviting space to enjoy a drink or two, takes you out onto the terrace and the banks of the Lake for the ultimate panoramic view and photo opportunity.
